At FF Polymers Ltd. we manufacture Nyrim (a thermoplastic material).
Nyrim is an elastomer modified PA6 block copolymer.
The advantages of our Nyrim material are;
- Exceptional toughness
- Very high impact strength and energy absorption
- Flexural strength
- Good abrasion & wear resistance
- Service temperature range from -40 to 140oC
- Good chemical resistance
- Lightweight when used to replace metal parts.
Nyrim parts are produced by Reaction Injection Moulding (RIM).
RIM involves the injection of heated liquid Nyrim chemical components into a heated mould.
This is achieved with our precisely controlled RIM plant.
The component chemicals polymerize in the mould to form a solid part. By varying the ratio of component chemicals or adding reinforcements the mechanical properties of the finished product can be optimized.
Nyrim products can be produced in a range of grades and colours.
Steel inserts and glass or carbon fibre reinforcement can be integrated or imbedded in Nyrim to produce a composite component.
We produce heavy walled parts, thickness can vary from 5 to 200mm. Moulded part weight range from 0.5Kg to 25Kg. Nyrim moulded parts are typically used in mechanical/industrial applications.
We specialise in small to medium production runs (50 to 10,000 parts).
Aluminium mould tooling is commonly used, resulting in cost effective production. Multi cavity tooling can be used for smaller parts.
